Denise Higgins has extensive experience in working with teenagers and adults who want to examine goals and increase self-awareness in academic, personal, and professional settings. She holds the conviction that all people have the capacity to become their most desired selves and is passionate about joining clients on their journeys to increase awareness, create strategies for success, and achieve the personal and professional goals they desire. Denise has completed the JST Coach Training Program and holds an MAT in History Education and an MS in Academic Advising. She recently retired from Landmark College after 33 years of service.
Denise began her career as a high school history teacher in the New York City public school system. Soon after moving to Southern VT, she joined the faculty of Landmark College, an accredited college serving neurodiverse students. Denise has classroom experience teaching Study Skills and Writing, as well as courses in the Humanities and Social Sciences. As an academic coach at Landmark, she provided academic support with an emphasis on guiding students as they transitioned to college and adjusted to their first couple years as undergrads.
Denise has extensive experience and a great passion for travel to the UK with learners and has served as both program director and academic director for the Landmark College London Study Abroad Program. In addition, Denise has engaged in original research in the area of Executive Functioning which she has shared at national and regional conferences as well as topics related to working with college students with LD/ADHD/ASD. A former contributing member of the Landmark College Academic Advising Department, she received a national award from NACADA (National Association for Academic Advisors) for outstanding academic advising. Denise is a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and has an ACSTH (Approved Coach Specific Training Hours) certificate. Denise balances her time between residences in New York and New Hampshire where she lives with her husband, a college administrator, and her yellow lab, a self-absorbed and entitled millennial.
