Matthew Douglas
Educational Consultant & Executive Functioning Coach

Matt is a veteran educator who has spent time as a teacher, administrator and teen and young adult mentor. He specializes in working with students with learning differences, social and/or emotional challenges, and as a College and High School Educational Consultant, he strives to connect with his students on a deep level in order to find their best fit college, post-secondary, high school or middle school experience.

Matt graduated from the Gemstone Honors Program at the University of Maryland, College Park with dual degrees in History and Secondary Education. Since graduating he’s worked as a high school history teacher, a private tutor, a summer camp travel group director, an administrator at a small, progressive private school, and a teen and young adult mentor. He has spoken at a variety of small education conferences and parent back-to-school nights, and even written a student workbook on how to apply to college (yet to be published). Regardless of the role Matt has been in, he’s always been passionate about helping teens discover themselves and their goals, and how to work towards achieving them.

Although based out of northern Virginia, Matt works with clients from across the country, including his home state of New Jersey, where he desperately misses their bagels and pizza, and his adopted state of California, where he (almost as desperately) misses surfing. Matt lives with his wife and daughter and enjoys the outdoors, including biking, soccer and surfing, nerding out on a variety of topics, especially history, and his Baltimore Ravens!
